Managing Your Organization

Your organization is the central workspace in Stack2X. It holds your connected instances, backups, migrations, team members, and billing settings all in one place. This guide explains how to manage your organization's settings and configuration.

How Organizations Work

Every Stack2X account belongs to at least one organization. When you first sign up, Stack2X automatically creates an organization for you and makes you the owner. Everything you do in Stack2X -- connecting instances, creating backups, running migrations -- happens within the context of your organization.

If a teammate invited you, you'll join their organization instead. You can belong to multiple organizations, but each one has its own instances, backups, and billing.

Accessing Organization Settings

To manage your organization, click Organization Settings in the sidebar. This takes you to the settings page where you can update your organization's details and view key information.

Changing Your Organization Name

Your organization name is displayed throughout Stack2X and helps your team identify the workspace. To change it:

  1. Go to Organization Settings.
  2. Find the Organization Name field.
  3. Enter your new name.
  4. Click Save Changes.

The name update takes effect immediately across the entire workspace.

Your Organization Slug

Each organization has a unique slug -- a short, URL-friendly identifier that appears in your Stack2X URLs. For example, if your slug is my-team, your organization's pages will include that in the URL path.

The slug is set automatically when your organization is created, based on your organization name. You can change it from the settings page, but keep in mind that changing the slug updates all your organization's URLs. Any bookmarks or shared links using the old slug will stop working.

Default Organization on Signup

When a new user signs up for Stack2X without an invite, the system creates a personal organization using their name or email. This gives every user a workspace right away without any extra setup steps.

If you later join another organization through an invite, you can switch between your personal organization and the team organization using the organization switcher in the sidebar.

Organization Limits

Some features and limits are tied to your organization's plan rather than individual accounts. This includes the number of connected instances, backup storage, and team member seats. Check Understanding Plans and Billing for a full breakdown of what each plan includes.

Deleting an Organization

Only the organization owner can delete an organization. This action is permanent and removes all connected instances, backups, migration history, and team member associations. Before deleting, make sure to download any backups you want to keep.

To delete your organization, go to Organization Settings, scroll to the bottom, and click Delete Organization. You'll be asked to confirm by typing the organization name.
